Certificate Processing

  • 1) Certificate Electronically Sent to DMV & Court

We electronically send your certificate to California State's DMV and Court computer system. It is immediately received and is date and time stamped.

  • 2) Local Court Receipt (Not Processed Immediately)

Your certificate DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY SHOW UP in your local court's system. A Court Administrator must first download your certificate from the main system to their local computer system. Depending on the court, this can take 30 days or more. This is when your certificate shows up in your local court's system.

  • 3) Court Due Date (Processing Time Not Included)

Court processing time does not count toward your court due date. This is like the IRS and your taxes. The IRS does not immediately process your tax returns the same day you send them. As long as you send them in on time, that’s what counts.

  • 4) Court Administrator Review

The Court Administrator matches your certificate to the traffic citation they have in their records. If you have met all of the court requirements, they inform the DMV to mask the ticket on your record and it will not show on your public driving record. If you have not met their requirements or if they can not find the matching ticket because of incorrect information, they reject your certificate. They may or may not inform us of this rejection.
